The Department of Veterans Affairs is a branch of the federal government that provides lifelong healthcare and benefits to our military veterans. The VA serves its veterans at over 170 medical centers and outpatient clinics located across the country, with Encorus performing work at over a dozen of those locations. We have an extensive and ever-growing portfolio of projects at various VA Medical Center in states including New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, and Massachusetts.

The Northport VA Medical Center, located in Northport, NY, provides primary care and specialty health services, including cardiology, mental health care, neurology, suicide prevention, women’s health services, and more. The roofs on the ICU and 200N buildings were due for a comprehensive condition survey, and were found to be in need of replacement. The combined area of the roofs being surveyed was approximately 21,000 square feet, and with the help of a drone, Encorus was able to obtain high-definition video and photographs of its condition.

The roof survey included documentation of existing conditions, a site safety plan, and asbestos and lead testing. This was followed with recommendations for replacement and a preliminary construction cost estimate. To ensure the highest level of safety and satisfaction for the client, Encorus recommended the addition of safety guardrails and an upgrade to the existing lighting protection system to meet current VA requirements.

To ensure the safety of hospital staff and patients, designated areas for construction materials and temporary entrance protection were included in the design. The VA Medical Center was uninterrupted during this time and was able to continue operation without disturbance.  The replacement of the roof will help this facility to stay safe and comfortable for decades to come. Encorus Group’s staff looks forward to our next opportunity to assist clients in finding better solutions to the toughest problems!
