CUBRC is a research, development, and testing company with headquarters in Cheektowaga, NY. The firm wanted to build a new 120 square foot structure, with 20 foot high walls. Due to the nature of the testing performed at the facility, the new building was subject to blast and vacuum pressure design requirements. An existing hydrogen sphere was to be moved to a new location adjacent to the new building as part of the project as well.
Encorus was contracted to provide site investigation and structural design. This encompassed multiple site visits to gather information and assess the condition of the campus. Encorus Group’s Structural Lead, Dan Sarata, designed foundations for the main building, special equipment, mechanical equipment room, and the new location of the hydrogen sphere. Other structural design included building walls to be constructed of reinforced concrete and overhead bridge crane support utilizing concrete walls and steel columns.
