Building Commissioning at Wilkeson Pointe

As part of Buffalo’s Outer Harbor revitalization, Encorus Group proudly supported the renovation of Wilkeson Pointe. This popular waterfront destination recently underwent a significant renovation to expand public access and enhance the visitor experience. Improvements to the 7-acre site include a new restaurant, a patio deck overlooking the water, new restrooms, sand seating areas, and refreshed landscaping—creating a vibrant gathering space for residents and visitors alike.

Encorus Group was brought on to provide NYS Energy Conservation Construction Code required commissioning services in accordance with ASHRAE standards and guidelines. Our role was to ensure that the mechanical and lighting systems were installed and operating as intended, supporting the project’s goal of delivering a comfortable, efficient, and reliable environment for visitors.  You can check out upcoming Waterfront events at buffalowaterfront.com.

Our commissioning scope included:

  • Sanitary waste and vent piping
  • Domestic water heating equipment
  • Pre-functional and Functional testing

HVAC Systems

  • Heat generation systems
  • Heating and cooling terminal and unitary equipment
  • Ventilation systems (Kitchen, restrooms, etc.)
  • HVAC controls
  • Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) verification
  • Pre-functional and Functional testing

Lighting Systems

Our responsibilities included reviewing mechanical design documents for code compliance, development of the Commissioning Plan, observing construction activities, preparing detailed reports to present findings, Pre-functional and Functional Testing, compilation of records of Commissioning into a finalized Commissioning Report.

Project Impact

By verifying that Plumbing,  HVAC, and Lighting systems were designed, installed, and functioning properly, Encorus helped deliver a safe, reliable, and energy-efficient environment for the site’s visitors. These commissioning efforts supported the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation’s mission to create a welcoming and sustainable waterfront destination.
