Buffalo Sewer Authority Life Safety Assessment

Buffalo, NY

Project Objective

Encorus Group was contracted to assess the Sewer Maintenance Building for life safety deficiencies.

Unique Project Features

The facility was built in 1998.  At the time of the assessment, an upgrade was being planned to the employee breakroom on the first floor.

Encorus Group Solution

Encorus Group performed a walkdown of the facility, noting items which were not in compliance with codes and standards including the NYS Building Code, NYS Fire Code, NYS Property Maintenance Code, NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, National Electric Code, and others. Systems and components evaluated included chemical storage, access and obstruction of ingress and egress routes, condition of fire doors, appropriate signage, emergency lighting, and fire detection and suppression systems.  Situations where best practices were not being followed were noted as well. A report was prepared for the client classifying issues into four categories based on risk: complies, observation, deficient, and at risk. At risk findings were immediately reported to management at the facility.
