Correctional Facility Classrooms

Project Objective

Multiple correctional campuses throughout New York State recently underwent renovations within residential rehabilitation unit to establish classroom spaces. Campuses included Orleans Correctional in Albion, NY, Collins Correctional in Collins, NY, and Fishkill Correctional in Beacon, NY.

In addition to the construction of the instructional inmate classrooms, renovations were also made to office spaces, staff toilets, basement areas and conference rooms. All classrooms and additional areas were constructed with detention glazing, doors, ceiling and walls. Camera coverage was provided in all renovated areas to ensure maximum security.

Encorus Group Solution

Encorus Group assisted the client by providing environmental expertise in the form of hazardous materials inspections for asbestos and lead-based paint and prepared the environmental narrative for the program report. Encorus partnered as a subconsultant to the client in coordination with the New York State Office of General Services and the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
