Buffalo VAMC Roof Replacement Project Highlight

By July 14, 2021No Comments1 min read

Encorus Group recently assisted the Department of Veterans Affairs in replacing the existing roof system at the Buffalo VA Medical Center. The campus has a total of 38 roof surfaces of varying levels and sizes, including one of the highest elevations in Buffalo. This height is often subjected to high wind velocities, as well as weather conditions.

In order to safely view and assess all roof surfaces, drone technology was utilized. Following field investigation and assessment, Encorus designed for the demolition and replacement of selected roof areas. The location of equipment and building utilities was taken into account, as well as drainage concerns. The project included the demolition and replacement of several glass panel atrium structures as well as the design of a new lightning protection system.

The Buffalo VA Medical Center was originally constructed in 1947. Its campus consists of approximately 25 buildings and structures totaling 1.1 million square feet. This roof replacement project was one of several that Encorus Group has completed at the Buffalo VAMC campus.
