AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) is the international leader in setting technical standards for all phases of highway system development. AASHTO represents all fifty states, Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico, and serves as a liaison between state departments of transportation and the federal government. AASHTO’s primary goal is to foster the development, operation, and maintenance of an integrated national transportation system.
The AASHTO Accreditation Program (AAP) formally recognizes the competency of testing laboratories to perform specific tests on construction materials. In addition to being the largest accrediting body in the construction materials industry, the AAP is also the most widely-accepted. AASHTO-accredited laboratories have proven their commitment to quality and can set themselves apart from their competitors.
AASHTO accreditation applies to specific laboratory locations, and each location must maintain its own accreditation. Accredited laboratories undergo rigorous third-party assessments. During these assessments, each test method is demonstrated in its entirety by the laboratory’s technical staff, and the testing apparatus associated with each test is evaluated. The assessment also includes a thorough review of the laboratory’s quality management programs and procedures, including records of technician training and competency evaluations as well as equipment calibration and check records.
Encorus Group is proud to be an AASHTO-accredited laboratory. In order to assist certain clients with their testing needs, our lab is required to submit to lab assessments and demonstrate that our procedures and quality programs are up to date. AASHTO allows us to fulfill that requirement.
