Join us in welcoming Gerald “Jerry” Rogers as he begins his role as Senior Structural Engineer. He brings an extensive background, including professional engineering licenses in 11 states. We are excited to have him join the team.
We asked Jerry a couple of questions to get to know him better.
What led you to Encorus?
I was drawn to their reputation for technical excellence, collaborative culture, commitment to delivering high-quality solutions for clients, and unusual projects. The opportunity to work with talented professionals while continuing to grow my skills made Encorus a very exciting next step in my career.
What are you most excited about as you start in your new position?
I’d say getting to know my colleagues, learning from their experience, and contributing to meaningful projects. I’m looking forward to growing the Rochester Office and its engineering presence in the community I grew up in.
When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be an engineer or a scientist. I was fascinated by how things worked and enjoyed figuring out solutions to problems.
What’s your favorite way to spend a day off?
Spending time with my wife Laura and son River either running, hiking, or gardening.
Do you have any pets?
I have three dogs and three cats. Their names are Oscar, Odin, Ivy, Boris, Floyd, and Otter.
What is one thing you want people to know about you?
I’m naturally curious and enjoy learning new things. I love collaborating with others and finding creative solutions to challenges.
What is your favorite book or movie?
Big Fish or Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
What was your favorite thing to do as a kid?
I loved building things, whether it was with LEGO sets, model kits, or whatever materials I could find. Creating and problem-solving were always fun for me.
Who was your favorite teacher in high school, and why?
My physics teacher, Mr. Zobal. He had a way of making complex topics engaging and easy to understand. Their enthusiasm for learning was contagious.
If you could invite anyone who has ever existed to a dinner party, who would you invite?
My deceased brother Mike. I would love to catch him up on things that had occurred since he passed. He was my best friend other than my wife, and I miss him dearly.
If you had to choose one food to take to a deserted island, what would it be?
I’m really trying not to provide the expected answer, but I really love Buffalo Chicken Wings. Sadly, Rochester’s restaurants with decent wings are hard to find except for Bar Bill or the Angry Goat.
