Bringing Art and Engineering Together at Highmark Stadium

Encorus Group was proud to play a role in bringing a one-of-a-kind public art installation to the new Highmark Stadium, home of the Buffalo Bills. Our team partnered with local artists Jesse Walp and Bethany Krull of Allied Art Studios to help turn their vision for “Make Some Noise!” into reality.

Inspired by the sound waves created when thousands of Bills fans cheer together, the sculpture uses 336 aluminum tubes to create a pulsing, kinetic form that echoes the iconic yellow goalposts of the original stadium. Measuring approximately 18 feet in diameter and weighing between 1,900 and 2,300 pounds, the installation was designed to capture the energy, anticipation, and collective voice of game day.

Encorus engineers Olivia Reinhardt, PE, and Gerald Sullivan, PE, along with structural designer Catherine Wire, worked closely with the artists, Hohl Industrial’s installation team, Niagara Weld Works, and the Buffalo Bills’ design team to develop a structure that could be safely fabricated, transported, assembled, and installed within the active stadium construction site.

Olivia designed the structure in RISA 3D, while Catherine developed the model and performed clash detection through BIM coordination with the Buffalo Bills’ design team at Legends Group. The sculpture was fabricated in ten sections, including eight 8-foot sections and two 16-foot uprights, which were bolted together in the field. Olivia and Gerald also provided on-site coordination throughout the installation process.

From the first client interaction in November 2025 through final design, fabrication, and installation in May 2026, Encorus helped transform an artistic concept into a structurally sound and highly visible feature of the new stadium.

Today, “Make Some Noise!” hangs in the 716 Club, where fans can experience the installation from multiple levels as they move through the stadium. As part of the Buffalo Bills Public Art Program, the piece is one of many permanent installations designed to celebrate artists, community, and Western New York.

Project Timeline:
November 2025 – Initial client interaction
December 2025 – Final design presentation
January–April 2026 – Art fabrication
May 2026 – On-site installation
August 2026 – Highmark Stadium grand opening

Project Impact

Through close collaboration with the artists, fabricators, installers, and stadium design team, Encorus helped transform a creative vision into a functional, constructible, and safe installation. Now a permanent part of Highmark Stadium, “Make Some Noise!” gives thousands of fans the opportunity to experience a piece of public art inspired by the energy and spirit of Bills game day.

For Encorus, the project was an exciting opportunity to contribute our structural engineering expertise to a highly visible piece of Western New York’s newest landmark. It also reflects the value of bringing engineers and creative teams together to develop thoughtful solutions that allow ambitious concepts to move from the drawing board to reality. Encorus Group provides structural engineering and multidisciplinary design services, working alongside owners, architects, fabricators, contractors, and other project partners to successfully navigate projects from design through construction.
