Shannon has been in the engineering field for 18 years and working at Encorus Group for 6 years. She started off as a Drafter and worked her way to Designer, then Drafting Manager and most recently was promoted to Project Scheduler. Shannon is always determined to pursue more and do better for herself, and is not the person to be content in her current situation. She has a strong mind for math and is a big believer in organization in the workspace. So naturally, she gravitated towards engineering.

This gravitation started as a teenager where she went to a technical high school and took drafting classes. Shannon graduated from Erie Community College in 2004 with her AAS Degree in Mechanical Drafting. Then in 2018, she decided she wanted to continue to advance her career and enrolled in classes at Buffalo State College. Shannon is currently working towards her BS Mechanical Engineering Technology degree.

Working at Encorus has allowed Shannon to grow as a person. The flexibility with her school schedule and the support she receives for advancement is very important to her. She continues to learn and grow every day and has been given opportunities to do so. The biggest reason Shannon decided to work at Encorus was to help her decide which discipline of engineering she preferred. Shannon enjoys the fact each work day is different. Each project and customer deliverable presents a new challenge and task that keeps her on her toes.

Shannon’s greatest influences in life are her daughters, who are 19 and 10 years old. She wants them to be proud of her and know if they want something, they should go after it. Being a mom has taught her to multi-task and allow her to bring a different level of communication and thinking to the engineering field. As a teen mother, Shannon wanted to prove to people she wasn’t just another statistic and that she could do anything she set her mind to. Shannon says that she is blessed to have found a career that she loves so much when there are others out there still searching for that comfort.
