Join us in welcoming electrical engineer intern Collin Pfeifer, to our design group. Collin is currently attending Buffalo State University, where he will be graduating in May of 2024 with his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology. We asked Collin a few questions to get to know him better!

What led you to Encorus?

I was introduced to Encorus through my previous employment as a welder. Encorus Group’s testing department would commonly perform the MT, PT, and RT on my welded products.

What are you most excited about as you start in your new position?

I am excited to get started and begin designing and working on projects. I’m also excited to move from my old career into a new one, learning new things and moving efficiently through my training. I am ready to put my best efforts forward in the design of electrical and electronic systems in the industry.

When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was younger, I wanted to be an architect. However, my interest in electrical engineering came about through my love of music and audio electronics.

What is one thing you want people to know about you?

I grew up on a farm and have been working since I was under the age of 10. I have tons of relatable work knowledge due to my vast work experience in a slew of different areas and disciplines.

What was your favorite thing to do as a kid?

When I was a kid, my favorite things to do included hunting, working with my grandfather, hiking to creeks in the area, playing video games, and learning to play the guitar.

Who was your favorite teacher in high school, and why?

My favorite teacher in high school was my senior year English teacher, Mrs. Propp. She had an excellent sense of humor and was very laid back. She had many jokes and would treat the students as equals.

If you could invite anyone who has ever existed to a dinner party, who would you invite?

I am uncertain I would be able to choose just one; there are many people throughout history that I would love to sit and have dinner or tea with. My list consists of many musicians, philosophers, and religious leaders and forerunners. It includes but is not limited to: Gandhi, Jesus, Mohammed the Prophet, Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin, Maynard James Keenan, Les Claypool, Leonardo DaVinci, Mac Miller, Kim Morrison, and Scott Weiland.

If you had to take one food to a deserted island, what would it be?

One food I would take to a deserted island would have to be Indian red curry with seafood, veggies, and a side of basmati rice.
